Audit Report 2024-25

The annual audit conducted by the Kerala State Audit Department to ensure the financial transparency and accountability of the three-tier panchayats in Kerala is of paramount importance. This inspection is carried out based on the Annual Financial Statement (AFS) submitted by the panchayats at the end of each financial year.

The audit team directly verifies whether the grants, own funds, and development funds received by the panchayats have been utilized in accordance with government-prescribed guidelines and regulations. Along with the close scrutiny of bills, vouchers, and other administrative records, field inspections are also conducted to ensure the quality of construction works.

Financial irregularities or legal violations detected during the inspection are included in the audit report, and surcharge proceedings are initiated to recover unjustifiable expenditures from the responsible officials or elected representatives. Ultimately, such annual audits help prevent corruption in the local governance system and steer the people's planning process forward with discipline.
